Birthday Suit: The Black Community's.History & Ideas of Natural Hair & Beauty

The purpose of this event is to celebrate the natural beauty of African Americans at Howard University. This program seeks to answer the popular questions surrounding black identity.

Why do some women wear natural hairstyles? What are the historical implications of hairstyles in the black community? How do men and women of color define beauty?

This creative event will showcase the state of black identity and beauty. Through trending fashions, dance ensembles, a panel discussion, and entertaining multimedia throughout the evening this creative production will serve students’ desire to publicly consider black beauty.

Birthday Suit’s purpose is to enlighten and entertain. Focusing on the hot topic of “black hair” this event will inspire creative and intellectual conversation and work on Howard’s campus.

The event is presented by The School Of Communication Freshman Leadership Committee. Hosted by Miss Howard.
