Today is the last day of August. Summer is over and schools are back in session. I can't believe this year is almost over. I'm scrambling to finish things I started and begin the ones I should have started earlier.
However, all is not lost and I am encouraged because I'm still at it, doing it as I watch time go by. So many people have given up, so many have said it can't be done, but I'm still hanging in there trudging along.
I invite you to trudge along with me. Remember each day is a new begining and the begining to the rest of your life.......

Millennium Development Goals
Can you believe it has been 10years since the Millennium Development Goals objectives were signed? Well, it will be September 20-22 2010 and there will be a celebration at the United Nations headquarters to mark the 10th anniversary
With only five years left until the 2015 deadline to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, we still need to create awareness and empower people to demand that their nations agree to and work towards what was established when the Millennium Development Goals were signed.
The Millennium Development Goals are as follows:
Poverty: Over the years, we've been inundated with the statistics and the pictures of poverty around the world-so much so that many people in both the North and South have come to accept it as an unfortunate but unalterable state of affairs. The truth, however, is that things have changed in recent years. The world today is more prosperous than it ever has been. The technological advances we have seen in recent years have created encouraging new opportunities to improve economies and reduce hunger.
Goals for 2015
1.Reduce by half, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people whose income is less than one dollar a day.
2.Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all, including women and young people.
3.Reduce by half, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people who suffer from hunger.
Every human being should have the opportunity to make a better life for themselves. Unfortunately, too many children in the world today grow up without this chance, because they are denied their basic right to even attend primary school. A sustainable end to world poverty as we know it, as well as the path to peace and security, require that citizens in every country are empowered to make positive choices and provide for themselves and their families.
Goal for 2015:
1.Ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling.
Poverty has a woman's face. Global prosperity and peace will only be achieved once all the world's people are empowered to order their own lives and provide for themselves and their families. Societies where women are more equal stand a much greater chance of achieving the Millennium Goals by 2015. Every single Goal is directly related to women's rights, and societies were women are not afforded equal rights as men can never achieve development in a sustainable manner.
All of this we really need
Goal for 2015:
1.Eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education, preferably by 2005, and in all levels of education no later than 2015.
One of the darkest characteristics of poverty is that is seems to prey on the vulnerable and defenseless. In low-income countries, one out of every 10 children dies before the age of five. In wealthier nations, this number is only one out of 143.
Goal for 2015:
1.Reduce by two-thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under-five mortality rate.
Many people consider the day their child was born the happiest day in their life. In the world's wealthier countries, that is. In poorer countries, the day a child born is all too often the day its mother dies. The lifetime risk of dying in pregnancy and childbirth in Africa is 1 in 22, while it is 1 in 120 in Asia and 1 in 7,300 in developed countries.
Goals for 2015:
1.Reduce by three quarters, between 1990 and 2015, the maternal mortality ratio.
2.Achieve, by 2015, universal access to reproductive health.
Malaria, together with HIV/AIDS and TB, is one of the major public health challenges undermining development in the poorest countries in the world. Malaria kills an African child every 30 seconds. Many children who survive an episode of severe malaria may suffer from learning impairments or brain damage. Pregnant women and their unborn children are also particularly vulnerable to malaria, which is a major cause of prenatal mortality, low birth weight and maternal anaemia.
Goals for 2015
1.Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS.
2.Achieve, by 2010, universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for all those who need it.
3.Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases.
Reducing poverty and achieving sustained development must be done in conjunction with a healthy planet. The Millennium Goals recognize that environmental sustainability is part of global economic and social well-being. Unfortunately exploitation of natural resources such as forests, land, water, and fisheries-often by the powerful few-have caused alarming changes in our natural world in recent decades, often harming the most vulnerable people in the world who depend on natural resources for their livelihood.
Goals for 2015:
1.Integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and programs and reverse the loss of environmental resources.
2.Reduce biodiversity loss, achieving, by 2010, a significant reduction in the rate of loss.
3.Reduce by half, by 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation
4.By 2020, to have achieved a significant improvement in the lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers.
The Millennium Goals represent a global partnership for development. The deal makes clear that it is the primary responsibility of poor countries to work towards achieving the first seven Goals. They must do their part to ensure greater accountability to citizens and efficient use of resources. But for poor countries to achieve the first seven Goals, it is absolutely critical that rich countries deliver on their end of the bargain with more and more effective aid, more sustainable debt relief and fairer trade rules, well in advance of 2015.
Goals for 2015:
1.Develop further an open, rule-based, predictable, non-discriminatory trading and financial system. Includes a commitment to good governance, development and poverty reduction – both nationally and internationally.
2.Address the special needs of the least developed countries. Includes: tariff and quota free access for the least developed countries’ exports; enhanced programme of debt relief for heavily indebted poor countries (HIPC) and cancellation of official bilateral debt; and more generous ODA for countries committed to poverty reduction.
3.Address the special needs of landlocked developing countries and small island developing States (through the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States and the outcome of the twenty-second special session of the General Assembly).
4.Deal comprehensively with the debt problems of developing countries through national and international measures in order to make debt sustainable in the long term.
5.In cooperation with pharmaceutical companies, provide access to affordable essential drugs in developing countries.
6.In cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies, especially information and communications.

My Husband Works Two Jobs!
Rochelle
"I don't have to take this. My husband works two jobs!"
"I don't have to take this. My husband works two jobs!"
Many Americans are going through hard times right now. For some people, it is through no fault of their own, but for some people, they are the architects of their own misfortune.
We fall down, but we get up, and even though many economists are saying this is the new "normal" that we all will have to get used to, some people have decided to stay down by focusing on "the way we were" which is now nothing more than misty water colored memories.
I will share an experience I recently had that speaks to this. There's a lady I know who works in administrative capacity in a local government office. She is usually extremely nice, so one day we were discussing the down economy and I mentioned a part time job opportunity to her where she could make significant money working some weekends.
I was surprised by this usually soft spoken woman's sharp witted response which was remarkably similar to the smart mouthed, always yelling Rochelle character in the TV series Everybody Hates Chris, who often yells, "I don't have to take this. My husband's got two jobs" and quits at the slightest provocation at any job.
I was surprised at her rude "My husband works two jobs, I don't need to work" response. I felt a "no thanks" response would've been sufficient. Her tone of voice and choice of words were totally not called for. Anyway, I went on with my life and she went on with hers.
Soon after that her husband was in accident that put him in the hospital and later on long term disability for an extremely long time. After that he tried to return to his old career, but his post accident body could no longer handle the job duties. So he took some time to evaluate his life and now he's now back in school receiving training for another career.
Through all this time, the lady has been through so much severe financial hardship to the point that she can't afford to maintain her vehicle which normally gets her to work in less than 30 minutes. Now she has to ride three different types of public transportation lasting two hours each way to work daily.
If she had considered what I had said and just worked one weekend day a week, she would not be in this position. As the saying goes, pride goes before a fall. Her response was based on bride. I don't even know what made me suggest the opportunity to her, because I don't normally do that. Maybe God knew what was coming down the line and wanted to prepare her financially, but she chose to refuse the offer. With companies laying people off all over the place, Americans must realize that if you can help it, the one paycheck model isn't a reliable one anymore.
These are trying times. People who are homeless these days are no more the "type" that used to be homeless before. Now anyone can be homeless thanks to a job loss or illness. Like noted author and radio personality, Audrey Chapman said on one occasion, "A sistah must have several gigs going at the same time to survive."
This is a lesson I hope someone learns from...

Just Do!
There is no need to try.
Just do.
Feel what you feel without judgment or regret.
Those feelings connect you with the power of your authentic purpose.
Use your head wisely to follow your heart faithfully.
There's much that you can think, and yet even more that you can know.
Let the experience of each moment come, and then let it go.
Rest assured that the goodness will stay with you always, because you love it so.
Be now in spirit where you would most like to be.
Imagine waves of pure joy as they carry you along.
Somewhere within you, all is well, no matter when, no matter what.
Feel the peace of knowing the beauty of who you truly are.

Network 2000 is a women’s group whose mission is to promote women’s leadership in professional and executive positions, national awareness and advocacy, monitor women’s progress to leadership, and support women who are ready to serve on boards. They will have their 17th Annual Women of Excellence event on Thursday November 4th, 2010 at Baltimore’s Marriott Waterfront Hotel.
This year’s luncheon will highlight Network 2000, its mission, accomplished membership and the incredible achievements it has made over the last seventeen years. Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, Founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will be the keynote speaker. In 1982 Ambassador Brinker launched a global breast cancer movement and pioneered cause-related marketing. Under her leadership, Komen for the Cure® has developed partnerships with more than 200 counties and with some 300 global and national companies. Today, the organization is the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. In addition, Ambassador Brinker was recently honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, serves as the United Nations World Health Organization Ambassador for Cancer Control, and is a member of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees. Other accomplishments include serving as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary, and also named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, and Biography magazine’s 25 Most Powerful Women in America. Coming To America?
Hi there,
We all know it is a small world after all, and the world is now a global village. With people travelling from place to place it is no news that USA is a favorite destination. However, many people are often blindsided when they arrive and what it turns out to be in reality for many is not what they thought it would be. To ease this problem which is caused by lack of information, the few lucky ones who visit my website before coming will benefit from the information I am sharing. Hopefully after reading they will know what to expect before they arrive and do what they can to prepare. Below are two websites that share quite a bit of information.
http://www.edupass.org/culture/
http://internationaloffice.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/shared/docs/americanvalues.pdf
Please feel free to visit them to learn more about the USA before you arrive, also you'll be seeing more of the symbols you are seeing now.

Relationships Are Important To Enjoying Life!
As much as we human beings scramble for financial sustenance and/or wealth, when you are on your death bed, you don’t think about money or ask about your bank balance. You are only concerned with the people you love like your family and friends. My grandfather who was very wealthy on his death bed, while surrounded by his children asked about his other family member and friends and he was told that many of them had already passed on to the great beyond. He didn't care about his vast wealth including money or property.
Contrary to what people say that there’s reincarnation, the bible states in Hebrews 9:27-28 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” From this passage of scripture we know that we human beings only live once. Only Jesus is coming back. Therefore you must make time to enjoy what you have with your friends and family and don't only be focused on acquiring more.
Hindrances to Enjoying Life:
Not believing in God’s design for your life.
Being a perfectionist
Not going with life’s flow
Not enjoying the power of simplicity
Expecting someone else will make you happy
Being selfish and self centered
Believing others will help you
God abundantly supplies all of our needs. Psalm 35:27 states, "Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
Make the most of your time. Don’t say you don’t have time, but don’t waste the time you do have. It’s a mindset. Stop putting the emphasis on what you don’t have. Focus on what you do have. Don’t be bitter about what you do that you don’t want to do. Be happy doing what you do till God promotes you to the next level. God is with us everywhere. Know it is God’s will to enjoy life. Don’t say I will enjoy my life when. Jesus died that I might enjoy myself. The question to ask yourself is why are you not enjoying your life and what needs to change? Know what to get rid of and when to get rid of things. Enjoy your life now and today.
If you are too works oriented that’s good for you, but know that God is pleased with your faith. You can’t enjoy your life till you trust God. If you are Christian, know that all things work together for your good. John 16:24 states, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
Ask God for what will bring you joy in faith. Believe you have received and await its manifestation. Take responsibility for your joy. If you don’t, you give the devil the upper hand in your life. If you are doing things to stress yourself like being in debt up to your eyeballs or working till you are tired, irritable and anti-depressant dependent, know that it’s your fault that you are in that situation and you can make changes to rectify the situation.
You don’t have to let anyone else control your joy. Life is a gift many people don’t have anymore. Start to learn to enjoy your life and live life to the fullest today!
Effective action
Stop sitting around wondering if this will work out or if that won't work out.
Get busy and find out for yourself.
Stop wishing that you had more to work with.
You have more than enough to get started in this moment.
Once you start, once you make that first effort, you'll be able to tap into the power of momentum.
The initial results you get will enable you to make the next effort.
Quit worrying about not having enough time, for that worrying itself just wastes your precious time.
Simply and gratefully make use of the time you have, and you'll always be making progress.
Put thought into your efforts, but don't make your thoughts a substitute for your efforts.
Get busy and put your best thoughts into effective action.
Give your best to this day, give your best to the effort, and good things will come from it.
Though it won't always be the way you expect, you will always find ways to create real, unique value and richness in your life.

Let life inspire you by Katrina K-Rock Moore
Let life inspire you. No matter what happens, you can choose to be inspired by it.
If you make a mistake, let it inspire you to be more careful and diligent next time. When you're having a great time, let it inspire you to create even more positive experiences.
Each time you see kindness, be inspired to pass it forward. If you encounter deception or injustice, feel inspired to raise your world above it.
Anything can inspire you when you choose to let it. You can even be inspired for no reason at all.
Be inspired by the big accomplishments and by the small, simple moments as well. An inspired life is a life that's rich, and it's a life you can choose no matter what.
If there's a reason to be inspired or if there is not, be inspired. Bring your spirit fully to life, and raise your life to a higher, more enriching level.

Below is the link to a touching movie which is another reminder of why it is unwise to drive distracted.
