Network 2000 is a women’s group whose mission is to promote women’s leadership in professional and executive positions, national awareness and advocacy, monitor women’s progress to leadership, and support women who are ready to serve on boards. They will have their 17th Annual Women of Excellence event on Thursday November 4th, 2010 at Baltimore’s Marriott Waterfront Hotel.
This year’s luncheon will highlight Network 2000, its mission, accomplished membership and the incredible achievements it has made over the last seventeen years. This annual event is Network 2000’s primary fundraiser and proceeds help support both our mission as well as other charitable organizations who share our goals.
Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, Founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will be the keynote speaker. In 1982 Ambassador Brinker launched a global breast cancer movement and pioneered cause-related marketing. Under her leadership, Komen for the Cure® has developed partnerships with more than 200 counties and with some 300 global and national companies. Today, the organization is the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. In addition, Ambassador Brinker was recently honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, serves as the United Nations World Health Organization Ambassador for Cancer Control, and is a member of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees. Other accomplishments include serving as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary, and also named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, and Biography magazine’s 25 Most Powerful Women in America. We applaud the Ambassador and the organization for raising awareness about breast health through its annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
This year's luncheon is expected to be another sold-out event drawing over 1,200 attendees.
