Choosing To Participate which is a multifaceted educational and civic initiative that encourages young people and adults around the world to think deeply about the importance of participating in a democratic society, is seeking nominations of local civic heroes from the DC area to be part of their media exhibition that is coming to DC next year.
The Choosing to Participate initiative focuses on civic choices—the decisions people make about themselves and others in their community, nation, and world. The choices people make, both large and small, may not seem important at the time, but little by little they shape us as individuals and responsible global citizens.
They are seeking nominations of people from the DC area from which 25 people will be selected and will have their photographs and stories on display at the Historical Society in an exhibition from January 17th to June 17th 2011. The exhibition is designed to make people think about civic participation.
