Artist Profile: Keith Martin (1911-1983) was born in Lincoln Nebraska and settled in Baltimore in 1948. Windowless Room was painted the year before he was declared legally blind due to. diabetes retinopathy.
It is the last major oil painting he completed, though he continued to make similar light filled collages until shortly before his death in 1983. His collages, water colors, drawings and oil paintings can be found in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art, and Baltimore Museum of Art.
