(The men of Opening Act Productions)
In an effort to raise the bar in the DMV's filmmaking community, yesterday, Opening Act Productions, the makers of, The Fellows Hip: Rise of the Gamers (www.thefellowshipmovie.com), a buddy-comedy written in honor of online gamers and The Lord of the Rings movie about four geeks and the Lord of the Rings gaming competition, and The Fellowship of Christian Filmmakers held a free film trainining event in Alexandria.
The very informative session included topics such as the business side of film-making, getting the right story, business plans, forming your business, money, pre-production, crew (what is essential?), interns, cast, locations, the filmmaking process, what should I shoot on?, work flow (data storage), post-production, distribution, social networking, crowd funding, section 181, what if I love acting and film-making at the same time?, move to LA or not?, and faith.
There was a screening of The Soliloquy: If it were done...produced by film, stage and voice actor, Josh Murray, which is a well shot 8 minute modern short film, based on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. He is currently raising funds on Indie Go Go.

There was also an interview & Q&A session with producers, Chad and Aaron Burns of the Burns Family studios, the makers of Pendragon: Sword of His Father. They are currently in production with Beyond the Mask, a 1770’s action-fused historic adventure in which, running for his life, the protagonist, an East India Company assassin buried his past in a quiet English village, assuming the mantle of an Anglican priest. But the disguise won’t last for long when a woman he loves and a war he no longer wants, forces him to confront the question of who he really is. In the face of a looming global conflict, he discovers for himself the meaning and source of true justification and freedom. The trailer can be viewed at www.BeyondTheMaskMovie.com
Feel free to check out all the films mentioned above. They are clean and family friendly. Some pictures from the event are below for your viewing pleasure.
