On Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM Howard County bloggers, blog readers, staff from The Baltimore Sun, Explore Howard, Columbia Flier, Howard County Times and Howard Living Magazine and their friends and family came out to support and encourage Howard County’s writing and blogging efforts.

The event which was held in the patio area of The Stanford Grill in Columbia was hosted by Jessie Newburn of HoCoBlogs with Baltimore’s very own, The Baltimore Sun serving as co-host and sponsor. It was a delightful evening of desert tasting, wining and dining, and networking and games including the fun, "Why Do You Blog?" game, which  had many of us bloggers soul searching on why we indulge in or are compelled to participate in the activity, and why readers read our blogs. Featured Deserts

The Strobist, Akubo and Hocomojo who were the gracious sponsors of the, “What’s your favorite dessert?” contest, which included an array of deserts including Key Lime Pie, Bread Pudding, Crème Brule, and Cheese Cake had us all breaking our resolves and succumbing to the tempting treats, while hoping to work off the calories later. Although no winner was officially announced, I am particularly partial to the yummy bread pudding served with vanilla ice-cream and topped with raspberries. It was really scrum-dili-umcious!

The kid-friendly event which included giveaways, creative games and networking opportunities is one that will be remembered for some time by all attendees. Pictures from the event are below. Enjoy!
