Proverbs 18:16 states, “A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great,” and recently, while reading many things that are being said about Whitney Houston, both good and bad, one thing that stood out to me is that she was a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal, but was never overtly sexual. It was obvious that her gift brought her before the “great” Clive Davis who charted her career path.
Even beautiful Adele who took home six Grammies this year and has uncountable fans has always been fully clothed because her acceptance is about her musical talent, not for men's ability to lust over her body. Lauren Hill who was very successful in the music business also won many Grammys years back, didn’t need to undress herself either.
This is just a reminder to young ladies that if you want to make it in the music industry, you don’t need to parade your practically naked body in overtly sexual bathing suit looking like outfits to get attention for your talent.
Your musical talent will bring your before the great power brokers in the industry. Keep such outfits for the swimming pool and the beach. You don’t have to tell people that you are a lady; the outfits you wear bear testimony to that fact. Your perfect voice, your songwriting abilities, and your poise all make up the perfect image your fan base will admire and be loyal to.
A word is enough for the wise…
