The Yoruba culture is very rich. One of the most important aspects of the culture is naming because Yoruba people believe names influence people's lives.
One of my names, my "Oriki" to be exact, which roughly translated means praise poetry name, Asabi (pronounced Ashabi) is the name of the new Eau de parfum by former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria and socialite, Mrs. Nike Oshinowo - Soleye.
Asabi is a very meaningful name which means selected for birth which roughly translated means a particular child was so desired and hand picked for birth.
I didn't know I shared the same “Oriki” with Mrs. Oshinowo - Soleye, an entrepreneur who wears many hats which she has now added "perfumer" to. I have admired this lady from a distance for many years. More grease to her elbows.
I wish her well in the marketing and promotion of her new perfume which bears my name, Asabi.
