Sociable Susan Food Donation at a DC Homeless Shelter
Sociable Susan is always doing something in the community. I was at a DC Homeless Shelter located at 1355 - 57 New York Avenue earlier today to give them some excess food pictured above from a party I attended. I was somewhat scared that I would get so much stress, run around and legalities thrown in my face for my positive gesture, but I thought I'd try because I didn't want the very expensive catered food to go to waste. However, I was positively surprised when I got there that they were quite the opposite. They were very nice and there was no red tape to go through. They gladly received the food with no issues. Needless to say, I will repeat the gesture in the near future. I'd like to encourage others out there to do what you can to help your community. You don't even have to give money. You just need to be creative. In America, very good things are thrown away daily. All you need to do when you see that it's about to happen is to ask to have it and take it to where it will be used. You will be blessed for doing it.
