Osama Bin Laden’s Death

Osama Bin Laden

I was home last night at around 10 pm enjoying Celebrity Apprentice, with Nene Leakes talking about Star Jones and the other members of the team when the broadcast was interrupted by news that Obama was going to address the nation about Osama Bin Laden. At first, the reporters started with, he had been captured, which quickly changed to he had been killed. After such a tiring day, I decided to head for my bead. I went to sleep before Obama’s actual address, but I knew that I’d get all the information the next day.

The news of Osama Bin Laden’s death elicited mixed emotions from me including, shock, unbelief, fear of retaliation on the US by his supporters, sadness for his friends, family and loved ones, closure for the many victims he is alleged to have had a hand in killing and the feeling of what’s next in this world? However, the most important feeling for me was that as a Christian, I believe God wouldn’t want him to be killed. Although I thoroughly sympathize with those who died because of him, their families and loved ones, however, I still believe killing him isn’t what God would’ve wanted based on the Bible.

As stated in 2 Peter 3:9 (New International Version) “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” I wish Osama's anti-American view never occurred because he was a friend of America at one point in time. I would like to know more about what made him become America's enemy, because as we all know, there's no worse enemy than a previous friend who turned and became an enemy.

Life would be wonderful if there are no wars, deaths, fighting etc in the world, but all those things did happen and Osama’s death happened too, and somehow in the big scheme of things, all these things for some reason were meant to come to pass.

Everything is such a shame though, but life continues…
