Taylor Swift Concert

Beauty, good manners and wholesomeness is what recording artist, Taylor Swift typifies. This was my first time attending her concert and I must say that I wasn’t disappointed as she played her heart out at DC’s Verizon center. With every song she belted out, she showed why she is a much sought after multi-Grammy winning singer, songwriter and instrumentalist.

It was a really nice audience of parents and predominantly young ladies and girls coming out to support their favorite recording artist. Parents and young girls waited in line for hours to see the singing sensation who definitely did not disappoint them. Among the many things she subtly taught the impressionable young girls who are her fans and look up to her, is that they don’t have to bare all or show too much skin just to sing a song like so many other artists do. The multi-instrumentalist who plays the guitar, banjo, and piano, her band and dancers who displayed dance moves from ballet to modern dance showed they were good at earning their pay and ensured that her audience who came from far and wide to watch the show got their money’s worth.

On her current album she said, “During the Fearless Tour was when I wrote the songs in the Speak Now album. As things would happen in my life, I'd write them down. It would be 3AM in the morning in some hotel room or airport.” She was so nice and courteous to her audience who she thanked repeatedly for coming to see her concert and being so nice. She also went around shaking and hugging people several times. She mentioned her humble beginnings of playing in small venues before becoming a big time artist. As her performance continued, she moved from the main stage to a middle rotating stage to give others a chance to see her close up.
She sang many of her own and borrowed hits including Mean, Too Late To Apologize by One Republic, Back To December, Better Than Revenge, You Belong with me, Speak Now, You Shoulda Known, Fearless, Last Kiss, Enchanted, Long Live, When You're 15, and I Heard It Through The Grape Vine by Motown’s many artists including Marvin Gaye, Ghetto Superstar by Mya.

The opening act, Need To Breathe also did their thing, showing us all that they may be the next big thing very soon. Till the next concert in Philly, which so many people who attended the DC concert have vowed to attend, here’s where Sociable Susan signs off. Enjoy the pictures below!
