Washington DC is home to an estimated 60,000 Latinos, and a growing minority number of those Latinos are Afro-descendants who identify as Afro-Latinos.
The DC Latino Caucus under the patronage of DC Council Members Kwame Brown and Harry Thomas Jr. invites you to the Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month panel discussion “The Afro-Latino Experience: Personalizing the Experience.” An open discussion on Afro-Latino issues and the perception of Afro-Latinos as viewed by five panelists: Xiomara Aldeano (Panama), Vivian Catalino (Dominican Republic), Roland Roebuck (Puerto Rico), Christopher Rodriguez (Puerto Rico) and Hernando Viveros (Colombia).
Howard University Professor Dr. Silvia Martinez will start discussion with an overview of current status of Afro-Latinos in the US. Refreshments will be served.
