Featured Non-Profit: Civic Grind

Civic Grind is a network and clearinghouse for civically engaged and socially active African-American professionals in the Baltimore-Washington metro area. We cultivate a culture of philanthropy among urban professionals by inspiring volunteerism, and by connecting motivated individuals and businesses to community-based organizations, leading to stronger communities. Civic Grind provides a number of products and services:

■Hosts exciting and innovative social events that raise funds and awareness for non-profits and community initiatives

■Provides marketing, consulting, and training services to minority-owned businesses; promote business to consumer and business to business transactions within target demographic

■Helps develop partnerships between for-profits and non-profits that engage African-American and other minority professionals; this includes social events, volunteer and training collaborations, community initiatives, corporate social responsibility opportunities.

Why? Civic Grind was created because the problems in our community can be solved by the people in it. It can be seen happening every day. As dedicated organizations and innovative entrepreneurs making a positive impact on our communities, it is obvious that individual effort's impact can be increased exponentially when combined. Also, making connections, creating collaborations, building community is a prominent part of Civic Grind.
